Guenolée explores the limits of the kingdoms of life through her watercolor and gouache drawings. It features organic plant and animal materials withs precious stones to question our relationship to the living and the non-living.
She works with matter like an alchemiste.
The fusion of drops of pigmented water enchants her with its speed. Like its subjects, the painting process is organic. Liquids deposited with a pipette travel on the paper fleetingly. They fuse, the pigments diffuse and mix. The process of color propagation takes place between dry, humid and wet, it takes place in a few hundred billionths of a second, on the scale of nanometric drops.
“The preservation of biodiversity is the most critical theme.
This is my favorite issue, a question of survival. My art is an ode, a cry of alarm.»
